Today begins “a new era of transparency”, as Mike Pernick put it, with regard to the SBC and how it allocates the student activities budget. All students at Wesleyan now have the ability to view every allocation decision that the SBC has made — which groups have received funding, how much they have received, and [...] As one of the SBC’s two newest members, I thought the time would be ripe for sharing my experiences thus far on the committee with the rest of the Wesleyan community. There are a number of very significant procedural changes occurring this year and it is important for all student groups to hear about them. At this meeting, COCo will discuss the [...] This year the Student Budget Committee (SBC) is taking measures to ensure that its actions and decisions are completely transparent to the student body. Since its budget is drawn from the Student Activities Fee, ultimately the money comes straight from the pockets of Wesleyan students. The budget’s final use, therefore, should be well known by [...] |
