Committee Updates

New Committee Reports Blog!!!!

Hey everyone!!!

So this year the Organization and External Affairs Committee (OEAC) will be providing the Wesleyan community with a brief update on what each committee is busy doing to make Wesleyan a better place to attend university. I’ll be blogging about things that come up in our committee reports and in open discussions at our WSA meetings each week, which, are open to the public!!!! Also this blog will hopefully give you a good idea about what sort of issues and projects we are currently addressing and how things are progressing with them.

A large part of the Community Outreach Committee’s (COCo) agenda right now is putting together a nice night on the town where students can head to main street and indulge themselves in the variety of offerings that Middletown has, hopefully with some nice student discounts! COCo is also actively working on fixing up 190 High Street so that it can be used more efficiently for student groups.

The Student Affairs Committee (SAC) has been working on consolidating the Alcohol and Other Drugs committees, down from 4 committees to 2 and this past week hosted a town hall for the Student Judicial Process Committee, where members of the Wesleyan community could come and discuss issues pertaining to the SJB. They are also proud to report that 908 students this year have been vaccinated for the flu by the health center and that additional hand sanitizers will be set up throughout the campus. The SAC is also looking to expand the process advising service.

The Academic Affairs Committee is discussing a re-implementation of E-squid, a program which is localized to Wesleyan and similar to Rate My Professor. They have recently been focusing on the German department.

The Finance and Facilities Committee has continued to do prepare for the launch of Zipcar. Along with OEAC, they are planning a publicity run soon. They have also been working on making Wesleyan more eco-friendly by setting up Eco-to Go at Summerfields and Usdan and by pushing for a Green Fund as an optional addition to the Student Activities Fee.
